Windsor Castle pub Hounslow

JMS Planning & Development/Windcastle Enterprise Ltd

How new flats, shops and a pub would look at the site of the Windsor Castle pub, in Bath Road, Hounslow, according to the developer

It would be replaced with a four-storey block, containing 21 homes on the upper levels, commercial units including a pub on the ground floor and a rooftop garden. A third of the homes would be 'affordable', according to the proposals.

A previous application to demolish the pub and build 36 flats and shops was rejected by the council in 2015, partially due to concerns about the loss of the hostelry, which was described as a community facility.

JMS suggests in its planning statement that the lower density of housing proposed this time and the fact the largest of the commercial units is to be restricted to use as a drinking establishment mean those objections have been addressed.

It says the plans would help meet the demand for housing in Hounslow West, where it claims the population is forecast to increase by nearly 35% between 2011 and 2030.
