What to do in Windsor England?

Windsor is a beautiful and historic town located in Berkshire, England. It’s just an hour from London by car or public transport making it easily accessible and is bordered by the River Thames. The riverside hosted the first settlement in Windsor which is said to have been established as early as the 7th century. From the 11th century onwards, the town was a favourite of the Royal Family because of the wonderful – and still inhabited – Windsor Castle.

But don’t fret if you’re not a history fan. The town is also known for its shopping and fine dining, not to mention the wide range of accommodation. Families and thrill seekers alike will fall in love with the largest Legoland theme park in the world. Horse racing fans will marvel at the Royal Windsor Racecourse which hosts regular racing events. And a tour of Windsor Castle, the largest occupied castle in the world, is not to be missed – don’t forget to visit St George’s Chapel inside!

There’s a myriad of activities to enjoy from witnessing the Changing of the Guard to a boat trip on the Thames. Discover a world of exotic flowers and woodlands at the Savill Garden, which includes a rose section designed by the Queen herself. Windsor is part of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and crossing the Thames leads you to Eton, so there’s plenty more to explore nearby.
