Places to see in Windsor

It's a rare town indeed that can boast two of the UK's top 20 favourite attractions yet Windsor is not only home to the world famous Windsor Castle, but also the children's fun park Legoland® Windsor Resort. Both these top attractions offer totally different – but equally memorable – family days out!

Windsor's historic town centre is dominated by the stunning Windsor Castle. Built in the age of William the Conqueror, Windsor is an enormous construction – and the oldest castle in continuous occupation in the world. There's plenty to discover (with an inclusive audio guide or on a free tour of the precincts with a Windsor Castle warden). Make sure you don't miss Changing the Guard – a classic Windsor Castle tradition.

Of course, there's plenty more to do in and around Windsor. Windsor Great Park is one of the best green spaces in the country. Wander amongst 35-acres of immaculate flowerbeds and lawns of The Savill Garden. Alternatively, climb on-board a riverboat and float along the beautiful River Thames.

For evening entertainment there are dozens of excellent restaurants, as well as traditional pubs and bars. You can eat a great meal before heading to The Theatre Royal Windsor, a stunning Edwardian theatre that attracts some of the best plays and musicals direct from the West End.

• Make sure you visit the beautiful St George's Chapel in the Castle grounds. It's a well-preserved religious college dating back to 1348.
